Allegations of misappropriation and indiscriminate disbursement of funds has had a field day in the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi as documents containing details of unexplainable deals have emerged.
A civil society organisation, Concerned Youth Forum (CYF) in a document signed by its National Coordinator, Snr. Comrade Michael Sunday and made available to newsmen, disclosed that the management through the office of the Director of Finance has allegedly doled out money without consideration to accountability.
The document revealed that the former DFA, Dr. Samuel Adewale Adegoke, illegally paid over eight billion naira to contractors between 2017 and 2020.
“A total of 523, 663, 460.68 was paid in 2017; 2,770,310,362.11 in 2018, 3,461,270,434.01 in 2019 and 2,235,365,915.50 in 2020 amounting to 8,990,610,172.30 illegally paid to contractors and suppliers.
The CSO also alleged that a total of 3,076,165,462.28 naira was paid between 2019 and 2021 under the guise of non-regular allowances, outstanding liabilities on outsourced services to federal tertiary health institutions amongst other claims.
It was also alleged that while the Hospital battles with putting in place the necessary amenities to cater for patients, the immediate past DFA, Dr. Samuel Adewale Adegoke who is now retired has properties spread across Abuja and other states.
The group also alleged that the incumbent DFA, Mrs Nalon Blessing Okonofua, may also be on the scheme as all efforts to get her cooperation in digging up further details of the messy scheme met a brick wall.
The group is calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant authorities to investigate and appropriately prosecute those found wanting in the scheme.
