THE AKPANKE FOUNDATION COMMEMORATES WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY(WHD) 2020 WITH ADO-SAMA COMMUNITY, NASARAWA STATE.

 

The Akpanke Foundation(TAF), today, Marked the 2020 edition of the United Nation's "World Humanitarian Day" with indigenes and residents of Ado-wada community in Nasarawa state, the  physically challenged persons, poor and downtrodden persons living within the community were hosted to a life changing experience.


The 2020 WHD theme "Providing Lifesaving support During the pandemic" was exemplified by the foundation through its activities and gesture to the community and its residents.


Speaking during the event, Mr Jeremiah Usheshe the Project Coordinator of the foundation and representative of the Founder, Mr Peter Akpanke, highlighted the vision of the Foundation, stating that the WHD brings a reawakening consciousness to the sacrifices of health and aid workers all over the world.


He said "This year's World Humanitarian Day which is dedicated to health and aid workers who have given their all to serving humanity even in the face of uncertainties reminds us that there's more to be done and that is why our founder, Mr Peter Akpanke has sent us to your community to share the moments of this day with you"




Also speaking, the chairman of Ado community Residents association, Mr Godwin Ishaya expressed sincere gratitude to the foundation and its founder for choosing to extend love to the community even in this trying time when the whole world is struggling to cope with the realities of the coronavirus pandemic.


The Foundation held talks on Preventive measures against Covid-19, personal hygiene and community/gender based violence. The residents were encouraged to maintain social distancing at all times, wear their nose masks and observe all NCDC guidelines and regulations. Also they were advised to report any form of gender bases violence that occurs within the community to the appropriate authorities. 


Food items, Nose mask and other items were distributed to the over 300 residents who were in attendance.


The residents were full of excitement and prayed for the foundation and its founder for coming to the community and giving them succour.
