Cross River Women Affairs Commissioner, Hon Rita Ayim attends Lunch of National GBV Data situation Room in Abuja.

 


The Cross River State commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon.Rita Agbo Ayim today, attended the official Lunch of the National Gender Base Violence Data Situation room to end Violence against women and girls at the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs Headquarters, Abuja.







Cross River State is among 6 states of the federation that were captured to flag off the program for collection of data of women and girls who have suffered Gender based violence within their environment. 


 The Commissioner through her proactive nature, had keyed into the idea and trained data collection agents across the state. A total of 256 cases have been reported and documented by the state ministry and forwarded to the data centre.







The cases are mainly made up of defilement, rape and battering.


Hon.Rita Agbo Ayim who was accompanied by the Director PRS, Women Affairs Ministry, Mrs. Thelma. H. Yakubu, had fruitful interactions with the Hon.Minister for women Affairs, HE. Mrs Dame Pauline Tallen, OFR, KSJ, UN deputy Secretary General, Amina J. Mohammed, UN Country Director Of Media, Dr Seyi, Fellow commissioners from other states, amongst others.
