International Day of the Girl celebrates the importance, power, and potential of girls around the world.
It is also a day to highlight girls’ needs and the particular problems they can face, and drive efforts that meet these needs and fulfill their rights – not benevolently for them, but in partnership with them.
As part of the activities to mark the day HOPE FOR THE YOUNG INITIATIVE (HYi) had a chat session with young girls in Okpoma, Yala LGA HQ.
The session which had over a hundred girls in attendance featured talks on Rape, Teenage Pregnancy, Low Self Esteem and Abortion.
The girls were inspired by the team as ideas were shared and sanitary pads were distributed to them. Together the voice of a girl child must be heard and girls will always see themselves as an asset and not a liability to their generation!!
The HYi Team Okache Lydia, Godwin Onah, Faith Ipuole and Okwori Mary Amicable want to appreciate everyone who has always been supportive most especially Mr Charles Offoboche, Chief Paul Sanctus, we also appreciate Mathias Offoboche, Alexander, Ohobu David Lifu and Innocent Ikuba for your time and contributions.
